We've seen the Wonderelles several times at summer concerts here in the San Gabriel Valley. I don't know if they're still active, but they put on some great shows.

As a kid I spent a lot of time up on the mountain Lake Hemet area… I’m 74 years old now … I remember driving through the town of Hemet … Hwy 74 Florida Ave. Shit back in the 1950’s +++ there was only one Ricky dink gas station and I believe they were closed on Sundays … when my folks retired they moved up to what’s called Val Verde (Hemet) … at one time Florida Ave. was one of the top four locations in the USA for the most $money$ … due to all of the retirees and the banks … the local hospital only had a few doctors, but soon hod we’ll over 250 doctors I was told. My parents have both passed away some 15 years ago … and I do not miss that drive from the Long Beach area … Hemet was a great place to retire at one time … but I watched it go down hill with all of the people moving there to support all of those retirees… if your thinking about moving to the Hemet area I’d go get at least SIX tattoos so you’ll fit in … it just ain’t what it used to be …

I had a hard time in Hemet in 2004. Lots of street people gang elements. But I lived up in San Jacinto mountains back then too, rugged but beautiful. In the mountains you train yourself to look down for rattle 🐍 snakes. In Hemet, the snakes can be people...but to be fair it was just a difficult time for me,

Lol. Joe's face. 😂😂 A year or two after graduating high school, a dude in the grade above me was working as a roofer doing large scale, flat tar/stone roofs. He fell off of the roof, _directly_ into the giant vat of boiling hot tar(about 500°.) Apparently his father in law was right there, along with another guy, and they both tried to pull him out, completely burning their arms in the processs. They say the guy(Bob/Rob was his name) most likely died immediately. Fucking hell. No thanks.

I have great feelings of the town, but that was many years ago, I was a HUHS graduate of 1963. It was a farm community and everyone worked at something. I received a great education in Hemet schools and worked at grocery stores that are no longer there. Sorry that it is still not that way, but all things change. I come into town now and my handgun is close by.

Thank you. I needed some terms for a novel I am writing. A boyfriend did this work back in the early 70's. He also burned an apricot-sized hole in his mid-arm. I appreciate men at work and some tough-skinned women too.
